Intertwined

Two bodies coil into a single knot so tightly that they read as one, yet each snake keeps its own head: two gazes side by side, held in one knot. Yogic tradition describes something similar in ida and pingala — two currents winding around the body's central channel, lunar and solar, cool and hot, forever beside each other, forever apart.

The red carries heat and blood; the white, moonlight and cold. Together they read as a single breath, traveling through two separate channels.

Each keeps a secret of her own. The white snake's double pupil shows clearly in ordinary light; the red snake carries a matching one, revealed only under ultraviolet. Each pupil gets its turn, its own hour to be seen, while the other keeps its silence in its own light.
