Dance of the Nagas

In the beginning there was movement. Two natures — masculine and feminine, spirit and matter — interweave in a single dance from which all that exists is born. The artist embodies this primal dynamic through the image of the Nagas: ancient conduit-beings whose interweaving is dialogue and resonance.

The female figure's hair is living fire: an element bursting outward as a sheaf of flame. The masculine principle catches this torch, holding the point of contact between the two natures. In this single gesture lies the whole polarity of the dance: attraction, communion with fire.

Between the figures is a dragon rendered in phosphorescent pigment: in darkness it emerges on its own, the guardian of the axis around which everything unfolds. The patterns on the Nagas' scales live in two realities: in ordinary light they read as ornament; under ultraviolet they open to their full strength, exposing symbolism woven into the very nature of these beings.
